Currently the rules used in advance search apply only to individual task fields. Increase the power and expressiveness of rules by adding higher-level rules. Examples:

A "doable" rule to indicate if a task is currently doable. This would be equivalent to check off = no AND (start date is before tomorrow OR start date doesn't exist)

A "status is deferred" rule to indicate whether the task's status is delegated, waiting, hold, postponed, someday, canceled, or reference.

A rule to indicate whether the task is in the Hotlist.

A rule to indicate whether the task matches another saved search.
