Revamped Chrome, Firefox browser extensions to add tasks (incl. Gmail + OL linking back to content instead of passing into Toodledo)
Please make sure that Linux is one of the tested platforms as you implement this.
CHROME PLUGIN ALREADY AVAILABLE!
There is an OUTSTANDING Chrome Extension that allows quickly adding tasks from either 1. Gmail 2. Current webpage or 3. Quick add any task via Global hotkey (as long as Chrome is up) I use CTRL-SHIFT-A to quickly capture tasks in an instant. Highly, Highly, Highly recommend this.
Gmail capture automatically creates a link to the gmail item that is open for quick reference later)
Chome Add-on Link:
@Tod S: "add to toodledo" is broken. plus, it would be better for the extension to come from toodledo.
@boydston01: I'm not sure which part you're saying is broken. I've been using it without issue. I do agree that it would be better if created and maintained by toodledo. I just hope that all the key features of the existing extension are possible in the official toodledo version.
Make sure you're logged into toodledo. or Maybe you need to try re-adding the extension to get it to work.
If you go here: chrome://extensions/shortcuts
you can set up a global hotkey (works outside of chrome). I've been using the following 2 shortcuts (with my hotkeys and settings shown)
- Pop-Up Form CTRL-SHIFT-B (global)
- Pop-Up Quick Add bar CTRL-SHIFT-A (global)
This works great on web browsers and gmail:
- it automatically puts the title into the title of the toodledo entry and - it puts a link to get back to the website or the specific gmail message.
- It also allows you to set defaults for new tasks (folder, priority, etc...)
@Tod S: for me the "add to toodledo" pop-up form (button immediately above gmail window) does not grab the subject line nor the email url. Thankfully, the global browser button in the upper right hand corner works. I reported the problem months ago. Thanks for the hotkey suggestion.
